Listeners familiar with FWTW history know that Chris Good and Seth Hendricks have been musical partners for many years, touring and recording under the Mutual Kumquat name.  About two and a half years ago Chris asked, and I helped out MK with a gig at the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference where I was already attending with my family.  Chris and I had crossed paths off and on for some years, relating easily through a shared love for music as well as other family and friend connections.  It was fun to be thrown together with a group of guys I barely knew, including two hot young players, Ethan Setiawan and Jacob Crouse.  We had a good time, did the gig, and I did not read anything more into it.

I was surprised to find myself on a flight to Denver only weeks later to join MK for a weekend playing at a big youth conference.  By now I thought it best to start really paying attention to the MK recorded catalog, and was drawn to Moon and Stars (the only song on this Friends with the Weather album previously recorded by Seth and Chris).  The mystical and comforting words pulled me in, and at home I sang along with the track while devising a piano part.  When we got together in Fort Collins, CO, I sang for the first time with Seth, following his pace and inflections.  It was then that I realized we might be on to something good…

Ever since that day Moon and Stars has been one of my favorite songs, a source of reassurance and peace whenever we get to perform it.  I hope you enjoy this deep version that made it on to the FWTW record.   -David Hupp
